WESTconsin Credit Union, one of western Wisconsin's strongest financial cooperatives with over $1 billion in assets and nearly 90,000 members, has an opportunity for a Senior Business Loan Officer. This position is based in our Hudson, WI Office.  We seek an energetic and dedicated individual with extensive experience in a commercial lending department, who is ready to join a growing company and be a major contributor in sustaining that growth.

Position Location:

This position will be based out of our Hudson branch after the initial 6-12 month training period that will occur in River Falls. Market responsibilities will cover St. Croix County and the Twin Cities.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Business Loan Officer, you will be responsible for generating new loan volume, which includes developing new loan business by approaching existing and potential members. You will gather and analyze credit information, approve or deny loan applications, and resolve areas of concern for more difficult/complex loans, all while providing an exceptional member experience. You will also be responsible for managing current accounts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build, develop, and maintain profitable lending, deposit, and Treasury Management relationships with new and existing members
  • Manage a portfolio of larger, more complex businesses
  • Consult with members and prospects at their place of business in order to understand their current business practices and financial goals
  • Grow a portfolio by originating loan applications for all types of businesses using resources throughout the department, while providing exceptional member service
  • Proactively deepen member relationships by cross-selling or referring additional products and services
  • Gather and analyze financial statements for determination of credit quality and appropriate approval process
  • Present business loans to Loan Committee; approve or deny business loan applications based on authority level
  • Close business loans, ensuring that members are familiar with all loan terms
  • Monitor current business loans to ensure compliance with terms and covenants
  • Manage delinquent or otherwise deteriorating business loans
  • Provide guidance and support to Business Loan Officers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university + experience, or Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school + experience
  • Six to eight years of direct business lending or closely related experience (Commercial/Construction)
  • Knowledge of state and federal programs, specifically those designed for small and large businesses, is required
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries and complaints from a variety of sources
  • Written and verbal communications skills sufficient to effectively create presentations and present information and respond to questions from large groups, outside contacts, Corporate Officers, and other WESTconsin Credit Union employees
  • Ability to create intermediate level documents in Microsoft Word and create intermediate level spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel
